MedCerts Partners with eHBCU to Broaden Career Certification Access

MedCerts, a leader in online healthcare and IT career training and a Stride Inc. portfolio company, announced a strategic partnership with eHBCU, the nation’s first digital HBCU consortium. The collaboration combines MedCerts’ workforce development expertise with the rich legacy of HBCUs to expand online certification programs nationwide.

The partnership focuses on access and equity. Many students face barriers to attending traditional campuses or balancing school with work and family. Through the eHBCU portal, learners gain affordable, online certification programs developed with employer input, ensuring graduates are both credentialed and workforce-ready.

“This partnership removes barriers to education,” said Terry Jeffries, executive director of eHBCU. “Students can pursue high-demand careers online while experiencing HBCU culture and community.”

The collaboration follows eHBCU’s June 2025 launch of its national portal, which allows students to submit a single application and access multiple HBCU programs. Incorporating MedCerts certifications represents one of the consortium’s first major expansions into workforce training, merging tradition with innovation.

MedCerts’ model reinforces this effort. Over 16 years, more than 100,000 students completed MedCerts programs, securing roles in healthcare, IT, and other growing industries. Its curriculum, developed with direct employer input, equips graduates with skills immediately applicable in the workforce.

“Too many students have drive but lack access,” said Jennifer Kolb, VP of partnerships and workforce development at MedCerts. “Our collaboration with eHBCU creates a clear, affordable path into today’s workforce.”

Expanding Impact and Opportunity

The partnership also emphasizes student success, workforce impact reporting, and events uniting industry leaders with HBCU voices. The goal is to reduce barriers, broaden opportunities, and establish strong pathways from education to high-demand careers, enabling students nationwide to thrive.
